What is air tightness?

Air tightness describes how well a building’s outer fabric resists unintended air leakage. Gaps around windows, doors, service openings and junctions can let warm air escape and cold draughts enter.
A blower-door test uses a temporary fan in an external doorway to create a pressure difference. Measuring the resulting airflow gives a picture of the building’s air leakage.
The test helps you understand performance. Sealing the leaks it reveals is what can improve comfort and reduce heat loss.

We are NSAI registered and provide official certified air tightness test reports. Testing is carried out in accordance with I.S. EN ISO 9972:2015, the standard for determining building air permeability using fan pressurisation.
